Forum: GratefulDead Subject: Scarlet Fire

Hey -

yesterday i listened to a scarlet fire which was widely reviewed on this site as "the best ever," and it was pretty fantastic. but my browser crashed before i had the chance to write down the date, and now i can't find it again.

any suggestions as to what date it might be? i think it was mid or late 70s, and came first in the set (or at least was the first listed on the embedded playlist).

thanks!

If anyone's still checking this thread, I think this has to be among the best S>F's ever..

It's always subjective to say anything is the best BUT no way. Jerry's voice is shot and I don't hear anything that is more extra ordinary than other great ones.

This probably isn't what you're looking for, either.... but it's a goodie:

It's very good, but I like my Bobby a bit more barefoot and pregnant.

Stand back, musketeers, they shall sample my blade!

Not it but even better except the start. The Fire on the Mountain is exceptional.

It has power and restraint. Ok for an AUD but it makes Dick's Picks Vol 18 worth more consideration on my part.

Following a comment on your show, this is also quite good for me:

Spaced...

If you're into Brent-heavy S>F's, check out this dandy...doesn't get much attention but it's about as flawless a rendition as you'll find anywhere:
